DIY: Wall Art

Image
I moved into a place of my own about a year ago...which at the time,  was really exciting and overwhelming all at once. Suddenly, there are a lot of expenses that you take on by yourself; because for once, you can't split the cost of everything with roommates anymore. I realized it took me awhile to start decorating my place because the initial living expenses were just getting a little too much. Don't get me wrong, I can afford my place... I was just getting a little worried about how much I was spending since it was more than what I was use to. I really wanted to decorate my place without breaking the bank, but buying framed art can get really pricey; so I decided to make my own. I would pin ideas on  Pinterest  for inspiration and thought of ways to create something similar for a lot cheaper. I bought frames from Marshall's for $14.99 and poster board paper, which was 5 for $2.99 from Michael's (I love using their coupons!!!).  So that's about $50 for 3 pi

So today I wanted to share with you my playlist:   2/4/2015 by Allison Young on Grooveshark   I hope you enjoy it! This playlist was brought to you by Grooveshark . DIY Recipe: How to Make Sushi Rolls

Image
This Valentine's Day we decided to make sushi and watch Wedding Crashers. Although we are not expert sushi makers it was a lot of fun to make together and eat the results of our clueless hard work. The best part about making your own rolls is that you can put all your favorites in it! If you want to get an idea of how to make some spicy tuna rolls or just stare at more pictures of sushi like this one here:

Drawing Journal Entry #2

New Year, New Goals.

Image
After getting hired and moving to a different city, I realized how much I missed my severely neglected blog. When the New Year started... I asked myself why I wasn't writing in here as much as I use to. Sure, I got a new job, but why did I stop? I'm thinking that I probably lost some passion for what I was writing about. So I decided that I would try again. This year I made small goals for myself... and this included keeping a drawing journal. I have loved scribbling in notebooks ever since college, but I realized I never kept a notebook that solely held these little drawings of mine. So I would like to share with you my first entry of my drawing journal.   My goal is to draw at least 1 picture a week and I hope to share each and everyone one of my entries with you. City View from Millenium Park - Chicago, IL Medium: Lined paper, black felt tip marker, red liquid ink This drawing was inspired by my Chicago trip, where I visited my old college roommates last Novemb

Favorites of the Moment

Image
You would think that because I have a job I would have money to afford certain things, but the truth is student loans and car payments keep me from going on shopping sprees. So just like when I was a poor college student, the trend of internet browsing continues. Here are my favorites of the moment: 1. Dorothy Perkins Stone Embellished Trim Tee 2. ASOS Full Skirt 3. Chloe Marcie Satchel 4. Gap Suede Loafers 5. Patricia Nash Handbag, Londra Tote

DIY: Notebook

Image
I really enjoy writing in notebooks, which document a range of things- from my to-do lists to enjoyable quotes from members of my family that I can look back on later and laugh. I currently use two notebooks and I realize that it becomes very difficult for me to keep it organized since I write everything in there. I decided that I should probably designate notebooks for certain things and so I came up with this idea of making my own notebooks since I can design them to look whatever way I want them and not pay any money for them. Here is my final result:

DIY Business Inspiration: Litter SF

Image
On Friday, I watched Friends with Kids at the Arclight in Hollywood. It was such an awesome movie and we were able to stay afterwards for a little Q&A with the director, Jennifer Westfeldt, and Jon Hamm. Totally worth my dinero and time. Then on Saturday, I was watching Shark Tank and that is when I came across the wonders of Litter SF . They are two sisters, Rachael and Mackenzie, who started making their own headpieces and eventually it expanded to other types of handmade body jewelry. Eventually, their orders became a little more than they could handle and that is why they were seeking investors in their company. It was interesting because I took an engineering entrepreneurship class and they discussed the fact that most businesses fail when they are trying to make a shift from a small business to a big business and that the best advice is to sell to someone who knows how to handle these types of situations. Litter SF was reaching this point where they were outgrowing the i

Bracelet Trend? Kanye West approves and so do a bunch of other men.

I have been and will be busy with phone interviews, turning in apps, and ebaying lately.. but I guess it is better than not being busy at all! While procrastinating, I saw this article on the NY Times Fashion and Style Section entitled Brothers at the Wrist . The article claims that after Kanye's performance at last years Coachella music festival, fashion and music blogs referred to these bohemian wrist tangles as "Kanye Bracelets." Kanye at Coachella 2011 As a result, there has been a surge of sales in these types of bracelets. I was totally unaware that they have been deemed as so and I first noticed a bracelet trend among DIY blogs like Honestly WTF , but more about stacking different types of bracelets (not solely "bohemian wrist tangles"/ "kanye bracelets"), which inspired me to create my own DIY bracelet . Honestly WTF I had no idea that this bracelet trend had become/has been popular among men. According to the article, there are sighting
